Music Workshop
During this 8 week workshop participants will work with members of Chill Place, teaching artists Kyle Love, Pranav Surendran, and Joel Harris to explore songwriting, beatmaking and guitar. The studio space offers a space to record and practice songs, resulting in their own collection of music at the end of the program.
Participating artists are currently incarcerated at the Monroe County Youth Center.
Summer of HeART
Kids ages 5 & up, express yourself, make art, learn rhythms and explore the world at Summer of HeART with Youth Arts Alliance. This free eight-week series invites you to try new things with YAA teaching artists and community partners. All supplies and a snack provided. No sessions July 3-5. Participants are welcome to join the Meet Up, Eat Up Lunch Time at the library prior to programming, from 12:30-1:30pm each day.

Mural Residency
Teaching artists Stephanie Howells and Gabrielle Schaub will be leading a visual arts workshop where participants will get to stretch their imaginations using the art of projection, lighting, shadows, and storytelling in the creation of a mural from start to finish.
Participating artists are currently incarcerated at the Washtenaw County Youth Center.
Art in the Park Meet Ups
Art class doesn’t have to stop after school is done! This summer, once a month, join us for an evening of creativity and community building with other talented young adults. Prompts and activities led by teaching artist Kayla Hope, art supplies and dinner provided. Late teens to twenty-somethings invited!
Visual Arts & Mindfulness
Youth Arts Alliance’s very own Founding Director Heather Martin will be leading a series of diverse and creative visual art and thoughtfulness activities for participants, alongside a rotation of teaching artists.
Participating artists are currently incarcerated at the Jackson County Youth Center.
Music & Mural Residency
Participants will get the opportunity to express themselves through music and visual arts in this summer residency. By the end of the week, participants will have created a mural from start to finish with teaching artist Gabrielle Schaub, and engaged with a whole music studio worth of instruments in order to make original music in partnership with Gift of Music.
Participating artists are currently incarcerated at the Muskegon County Juvenile Detention Center.
